Haha as you know Im obsessed with reading books, always have been, fun fact I used to be a ‘library monitor’ at primary school haha 🤓 as I got older mum and I would go for coffee dates and spend time exploring local book shops.

Its incredible when I first showed Goldie these books, I could see how engaged she became, she was looking directly at the images it was amazing!

👶🏼The retina of your baby’s eyes are not fully developed until they’re about 9 months old, so when they’re a newborn they can only really see strong contrast of dark and light.

It’s been said they can only see black and white then shades of red followed by other colours. Biologically the way they see and the distance is relative to the distance from their parents faces and limit the sensory input from around them.

Reasons I adore the idea of these books or flash cards;

I’ve had to catch myself out a few times with the thoughts around wanting my pre baby body back like YESTERDAY!
Easy to do, easy to get lost in when you have all the postpartum feels, hormones, sleep deprivation etc

Here’s something to ponder; what if we aren’t meant to be the person we were before, I mean the whole ‘bounce back culture’ is pretty much saying that we are meant to go back to the person we were before.
The truth is after having a baby and becoming a mother means there is no ‘going back’ there is only moving fwd, we are forever changed. I believe for the better 🤍
From maiden to mother is one of the greatest transformations you’ll go through in your life.
You gave life to a little soul. The old you doesn’t exist, you’re a higher being now.
Time to let go of the ‘bounce back’ attitude, the ego and vanity attached to this idea.
Focus on honouring who you’ve become, the season you’re now in, be present in this moment and allow yourself the time to cherish this moment.

There is plenty of time to work on feeling great in your body againnnnn!

To the exhausted mama I see you..

Before I became a mama I never even considered that there mamas everywhere just like us, doing the same damn thing, going through the same damn feels…every night in dimly lit homes whilst everyone else was sleeping..

Sleep deprived, underfed, half drank cold coffees and smoothies, a house that always seems to be messy, tired eyes, hair that never gets washed and blow dried (hello permanent top knot), baby spew, the same heavy and bittersweet feels…

I know it’s hard, it feels like it will never end; but instead of dreading it all, I choose to see it as a blessing as much as I can.
Sleep will come again, life will find order again.
My little babe will only be little for so long, needing me will only last so long, so for as long as she needs me, I’m here, I’m her mama. 🤍
