CHICKEN BONE BROTH

“good broth will resurrect the dead.” – south american proverb

So why bone broth? What is so wonderful about this old remedy? Never in my lifetime did I think I would be asking my organic butcher for chicken feet and bones with no meat on them? But when you learn the powerful benefits of this beautiful hot drink you will also find that you fall in love just as much as I did. I remember the first time I made it, I was like eeeeep feet!? Do I really need to use them, can’t I get away with just using other bones, but of course as I do, I did my research, there had to be a reason as to why we use these over other things. The feet are where you find the richest part of the nourishing qualities for your hair, nails, joints and gut health! Because they are composed of connective tissue and joints after all.
Many studies have shown that bone broths contain:
  • Amino Acids
  • Vitamins/Antioxidants
  • Minerals (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and silicon, sulphur, trace minerals)They contain the amazing chondroitin sulphates and glucosamine, – these are amazing products you would have seen in the health food store sold for treating arthritis, joint pain and inflammation.

Health Benefits:
  • Aids in Digestion – helping secretion of gastric acid and synthesis of bile salts.
  • Aids in Detoxification by supporting our liver.
  • Very healing for autoimmune conditions by treating the gut.
  • Re-mineralizes teeth
  • Improves hair and nails.

Chicken contains a natural amino acid called cysteine, which can thin the mucus in your lungs and make it less sticky so you can expel it more easily when you are sick – like the old remedy, chicken soup.

Medical scientists have now discovered that your health is very dependent on the health of your intestinal tract. Broth helps heal and seal your gut, and promotes healthy digestion, Reduces joint pain and inflammation and promotes strong, healthy bones. Bone Broth contains minerals in a form the body can absorb easily—not just calcium but also magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, sulfur and trace minerals. It contains the broken down material from cartilage and tendons–things like chondroitin sulphates and glucosamine, which most people will purchase in expensive supplements for arthritis and joint pain.

Make sure you always get yourself some good quality bones – if your animals are mistreated, full of antibiotics or any other nasties you will be absorbing these too. I believe that they MUST come from Organic or reputable sources! This for me is a non negotiable.

NEVER forget the vinegar – it helps leech all those valuable minerals from the bones into the water – which is what you’ll be drinking. Bragg’s raw apple cider vinegar is a good choice as it’s unfiltered and unpasteurized.
